Mina Liu and Oliver Uberti for National Geographic examine the most common surnames across the country: What’s in a Surname? A new view of the United States based on the distribution of common last names shows centuries of history and echoes some of America’s great immigration sagas. Who is Elmo Tide? →
Someone has to know who this is. He’s becoming the Banksy of photography.
“Frank and Fellini go to the carnival.” That’s how NPR described the style, and it seems as good a description as any. It’s a strange dark fantasy world, but I can’t quite grasp it. What is he trying to express? What drives him? Who is this person sneaking around LaLa land at all...

Worldizing: a sound design concept - by Walter... →

Bill Cunningham New York →
kueneman:
A trailer for the documentary film by Richard Press. Looks fantastic. I consider it an honor to be able to occasionally cross paths with, share an elevator ride with, or exchange a few words with the artist and ultimate wizard of style-spotting, Bill Cunningham. He calls us the “hi-tech kids.”

I have one of these preamps. They sound MUCH better than the Juiced Link. The only con, and it’s a big con, is that it’s difficult to mount onto the camera.
